Beloved the world over, a symbol both of New York City and of The New York Public Library, Patience and Fortitude are the lions who have guarded the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue since 1911.

Made of marble and exposed to the elements, time and weather have taken their toll. Scheduled restoration work will start in early September.
